# The ExcelSend portal

## Why this matters

The add-in is for sending and reporting. Anything to do with your account happens in the ExcelSend portal at [portal.excelsend.com](https://portal.excelsend.com), and the add-in links you there when you need it.

## What's in the portal

## Sender IDs

A Sender ID is a name, such as your organisation's, that your messages come from instead of a number. You apply for one in the portal. Approval usually takes up to 48 hours, and you get an email with the result. While you wait, the add-in shows **Branded Sender Ids are Pending**.

Once approved, choose it under **Replies:** → **Use a Sender Id**. See [Replies and Sender IDs](/docs/sending/replies-and-sender-ids/).

## Reply numbers

In some countries you can, or must, rent your own reply number for a monthly fee. The [Pricing](/price/) page shows the fee where one applies. Once active, choose it under **Replies:** → **Your Reply Number**.

## Balance

Prepaid accounts send against a balance. The add-in checks it in the preview. If the send costs more than the balance, you see **Balance Too Low** and **Send messages** stays disabled until you top up and click **Refresh**.
