| Add-in | A program that runs inside Excel. ExcelSend is an add-in for Microsoft 365 Excel. |
| Advanced alphabet | The Unicode character set. Needed for emojis and many special characters, and fits fewer characters per part. See SMS message parts. |
| ExcelSend portal | The website where you manage your account: balance, reply numbers, Sender IDs and jobs. portal.excelsend.com |
| Job | One send from the add-in. Each job has a job number and a job reference. |
| Job reference | The code written to exs_jobReference that links a row to the job it was sent in. |
| Merge field | A column header between double carets, such as ^^firstName^^, replaced by each row’s value. See Merge fields. |
| Message part | One SMS segment. Long messages are sent in several parts, and each part is charged. |
| Opt-out link | A 17-character link added to a message that lets the recipient stop your messages. See Opt-outs. |
| Reply number | The number your contacts reply to. Either a shared ExcelSend number or your own. |
| Report columns | The exs_ columns ExcelSend adds to your sheet with delivery data and replies. See Report columns. |
| Send Rows | Rows in the range that don’t yet have a job reference, and so will be sent. |
| Sender ID | A name, such as your organisation’s, shown as the sender instead of a number. Can’t be replied to. The add-in labels it “Sender Id”. |
| Standard alphabet | The GSM character set. 160 characters fit in a one-part message. |
| Stop list | Numbers that have opted out. Messages to them are blocked. |
| Task pane | The panel ExcelSend opens in beside your sheet. |
